It’s frustrating to say that the production of Kurgan is not currently firing on all cylinders. The idea I have for the story seems strong, and I’m having a lot of fun with the characters. But there’s a part of me that wants this to be a bigger story.

Of course, I could be wrong here. It might just be that I’ve had a couple of weeks where additional duties at the front of the lecture hall (along with writing a short academic article and recording an audiobook) have taken their toll on my creative abilities. It could be that by this time next week I’ll be halfway through Kurgan and this temporary lull in my creativity is way behind me.
But I do like the idea of turning this into a more substantial read. The characters in Innsmouth are growing on me with each novella. In Kurgan we’re reacquainting ourselves with Dennis and Anjali from Unearthed, as well as Ellie, Gez and Graham from Fearless. To me this feels like the culmination of something big and I’m looking forward to learning what it is.
I have to admit the cover for this one is looking beautiful and I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the awesome Colin Davies for being so generous with his talent. I’m planning to do a cover reveal when I’m closer to knowing more about the story but, for now, I’m pleased to say, it looks like it’s going to be an awesome addition to the series.
