The 5 Best YouTube Ghosts on CCTV

As you may know, I write horror fiction and have a sceptic’s interest in the supernatural. I’ve recently written an article about the language we use when discussing ‘true’ ghost stories, which is shortly to be published in an academic journal. But I also enjoy the thrill of seeing things that can’t be explained, which is why I spend so many hours bouncing around YouTube looking at a range of clips that shift from the stupid to the stupefying.

Below are five ghosts caught on CCTV that potentially defy explanation. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts.

Ghost #1

I don’t know what is happening with this one. 26 seconds in we see a vague, shadowy figure crossing the road, there is then a suggestion of impending impact, the Flash seems to intervene, and then the situation is magically resolved.

If you have any ideas how this has happened, with or without supernatural intervention, I’d love to see your comments in the box below.

Ghost #2

There’s a narrator who describes this scene as ‘bone chilling’ which is probably the last phrase I would use for this particular scene. There is also a suggestion that this could have been the result of a psychic medium’s demonstration, which strikes me as coincidence at best and almost certainly irrelevant. However, there is no doubt that the chair does move and I’d be keen to know if anyone has any suggestions as to how or why it moves.

Ghost #3

I saw this one on a documentary. Ordinarily I would be shaking my head and saying this was clearly done with unseen wires and a clear intent of deception. However, the documentary interviewed sensible people, none of whom seemed to have an agenda of duplicity.

Ghost #4

This one puzzled me. I can’t see the first phenomena that’s being discussed but there is definite movement on the second part. Check out the video and let me know your thoughts.

Ghost #5

This final one does strike me as being a genuine puzzle. The trolley is being manoeuvred by something we can’t see. I don’t know if this is something supernatural or someone acting with intent to deceive. We can rule out wind because none of the overhanging foliage is moving. Again, if you have any ideas about what’s caused this, please put your suggestions in the box at the bottom of the page.

And, if you have links to anything that seems inexplicable, I’d love to hear about them.
